Privacy Policy

SettlePro provides settlement-disbursement software to personal injury law firms. This policy explains what we collect, how we use it, and the controls you have over your data. We've kept it plain so you can read it without a translator.

1. Information we collect

  • Account information — your name, email address, firm name, and authentication credentials.
  • Case data — settlement amounts, fee structures, lien details, expense entries, and other inputs you enter to perform calculations or generate documents.
  • Usage data — pages viewed, features used, timestamps, device and browser information, and diagnostic logs needed to operate and secure the service.
  • Billing information — payment is handled by Stripe. We store the metadata needed to manage your subscription (plan, period, last four card digits) but never full card numbers or CVV codes.
  • Support communications — messages, attachments, and metadata you send when contacting support.

2. How we use information

  • To deliver, maintain, and improve the SettlePro service.
  • To authenticate users and enforce team-based access controls.
  • To process subscription payments, credit purchases, and renewals.
  • To send service-related notifications (security alerts, billing receipts, product updates you've opted into).
  • To investigate suspected misuse, fraud, or violations of our terms.
  • To comply with legal obligations and respond to lawful requests.
We do not sell your data. We do not use your case data to train machine-learning or AI models, ours or anyone else's.

3. Confidentiality of case and client data

Case data you enter is scoped to your firm's team. Other firms cannot see it. SettlePro personnel access case data only when strictly necessary to provide support you've requested, investigate suspected abuse, or comply with law. Access is logged.

SettlePro is a tool — your firm remains the controller of attorney-client information you process through it. You are responsible for ensuring your use of SettlePro is consistent with your professional obligations, applicable rules of professional conduct, and any client engagement terms.

4. Storage and security

Data is encrypted in transit using TLS and encrypted at rest in our managed database. Authentication supports two-factor authentication (TOTP). Access to production systems is restricted, audited, and limited to personnel who require it. We follow industry-standard security practices, but no system is perfectly secure — we will notify affected customers promptly if we discover a security incident that materially impacts their data.

5. Third-party services

SettlePro uses a small set of vetted subprocessors:

  • Stripe — payment processing and subscription billing.
  • Google reCAPTCHA — abuse prevention on public-facing forms (where enabled).
  • Email delivery providers — transactional email for verification, password reset, and notifications.
  • Cloud infrastructure providers — hosting, storage, and backups for the service.

These providers process data on our behalf under contracts that require them to maintain appropriate confidentiality and security.

6. Data retention

We retain account and case data for as long as your account remains active. When an account is closed, we remove or anonymize associated case data within a reasonable period, except where we are required to retain records to comply with legal, accounting, or audit obligations. Backup copies are purged on a rolling schedule.

7. Your choices and rights

  • Access and correction — view and update your profile and team information from inside the app.
  • Export — request an export of your firm's case data by contacting support.
  • Deletion — request deletion of your account and associated data; we'll process the request within 30 days, subject to retention obligations described above.
  • Marketing — opt out of non-essential email at any time using the unsubscribe link.

Residents of jurisdictions with specific privacy laws (such as California or the EU) may have additional rights. Contact us to exercise them.

8. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be announced inside the application and emailed to the account owner before they take effect. The "last updated" date above always reflects the most recent revision.
